Risks and liability
Changing the controller's settings, and editing the parameters directly without understanding their effect on the controller, can make the motorcycle behave unpredictably, destroy the equipment, cause a short circuit and/or a fire, lead to injury and disability and put life in danger — yours and others'.
Unpredictable motorcycle
A jolt, the bike speeding up or moving by itself, loss of traction, the drive or the regen failing while riding — the motorcycle does not do what you expect.
Injury and danger to life
Such behaviour can end in a fall or a crash: injury, disability, death — yours and others'. Check the changes standing still, with the wheel lifted, in full gear.
Short circuit and fire
Wrong currents, voltages, dead time, angles or frequencies can break down the power switches and short the battery through the controller — with a fire.
Destroyed equipment
Overheating and destruction of the controller, the motor, the battery and the wiring. The current, voltage and temperature protections are these same parameters: a weakened protection does not trip.
"As is" and liability
- The firmware and the app are provided “as is”, without any warranty — including any warranty of fitness for a particular purpose or of fault-free operation. By using them you accept the risk that comes with it.
- You are responsible for the settings you choose and write to the controller, for the condition of the motorcycle, your gear and your riding.
- ALEX_V LABS is not liable for injury, death, damage to property, fire, failure of the motorcycle, the controller, the motor, the battery or the wiring, or any other direct or indirect consequences of using the firmware and the app and of changing the settings — to the extent the applicable law allows.
- Before the expert mode the app requires you to confirm: “I am aware of the risk of the motorcycle behaving unpredictably, destroyed equipment, a short circuit and fire, injury, disability and danger to life, and I take responsibility for the parameter changes”.
The waitlist
- An entry is free and commits neither you nor us to anything: it is not an order, a contract or a payment.
- Price, dates, the install procedure and the terms of sale will come in a separate note before sales open; a purchase is under a separate contract.
- Sales are planned for Europe and the USA. If your country isn't among them, we'll say so.
- The firmware and the Bluetooth module are installed by ALEX_V LABS or an authorised partner in your region.
- You can have your entry deleted at any time — write to hello@racefirmware.com. How we handle the data is in the privacy policy.
Before you start
The terms of use and safety — the same the app shows at its first start and asks you to accept.
Off-road and closed tracks only
Changing the controller's settings — power, current, speed — can make the motorcycle non-compliant for public roads and void its warranty. Use the app only where it is permitted.
Safety is your responsibility
Gear, a sound bike, checking new settings standing still with the wheel lifted. Wrong values can cause a jolt, loss of traction or a drive fault.
What protects you
Settings are written only while the bike stands with the bridge disarmed; every change goes through a before → after review; current-driven calibrations stop if the link to the phone is lost for over 0.5 s.
Compatibility and names
The app works with the Race Firmware controller (ALEX_V LABS) through a BLE bridge. Sur-Ron, Ultra Bee and Sotion are trademarks of their owners; the app is not affiliated with them and names them only to state compatibility.
Your data stays on the phone
Telemetry, rides and settings are kept on the phone; the app doesn't send them to the internet. Location is used only while a ride is recorded. Files leave the phone only when you share them.
No warranty
The app and the firmware are provided “as is”, without any warranty. By using them you accept the risk that comes with it.
The bridge is the controller's power stage: READY arms and disarms it. The BLE bridge is the Bluetooth module that links to the phone. The ride map loads from a map server — the details are in the privacy policy.
The expert mode
Direct parameter editing opens only after the risk is explicitly accepted — every time; the acceptance is logged on the phone with the date and time, the controller, the firmware and the app's version. The risks are in Risks and liability above.
What the app checks
Here — only the firmware's ranges. The presets and limits of the regular screens (the battery limit, i_nom) do not apply.
Log
The acceptance is logged on the phone: the date and time to the second, the controller, the firmware, the app's version.
Calibrations, the first start, updates
- Encoder and motor: bike on a stand, rear wheel free (or chain off), hands and clothing clear — the motor will turn by itself. Stop and a lost link cancel the procedure: zero current until the rotor stops.
- Motor on the brake: wheel held (on the brake), hands and clothing clear.
- Dead time: motor still, rotor not turning, bus powered.
- Throttle: bridge disarmed, bus powered; the throttle can be released and turned fully.
- Battery: the type is chosen by the pack itself; enable regen only if the battery accepts charge. Wrong values break the charge estimate and the regen protection.
- First start: wheel in the air, READY, throttle, disarm — only then the ground. Smooth throttle, instant disarm.
- Update: bike standing, bridge disarmed. The controller will restart; the motor stays unpowered until the install is done. If the transfer breaks, the previous firmware runs.
